watching those whales

On Thursday we went on a whale-watching boat tour with a bunch of people from Nick's work conference. That was SO much fun and really affordable. We boarded the large boat and went out into the ocean. That was fun by itself being out in the ocean boating around, but then we got to see the whales! It is whale season in Maui from December to April and whales come every year to mate and have babies. They are everywhere. The babies stay close to their mothers and need to come up for air every 3-5 minutes so we got to see them jump, and pop up their tails and fins. It was fascinating.


See that black spot in the middle of the water... that's a baby whale that kept jumping out of the water over and over about 12 times. Awesome!


I loved this swing that was hanging from a tree right off the main road that followed the coast. It made me happy.

Gotta stop at the fruit stands off the road. The coconut milk was okay, and the mangoes were delicious! We ate those sitting on our beach towels in one of our favorite spots on the beach at sunset :)

Front Street was the place for shopping. There were all kinds of shops lined up on the street right against the ocean. We watched the sunset there too and the large cruise ships come in to dock.




We stayed at the Maui Lu for two nights in Kihei. This was our view at sunrise. We were 15 feet from the ocean. Loved it!

We stayed in the unit on the far right end. It was two stories, the bedroom was upstairs. It was such a fun little place.
