It's a Hawaiian Luau Beach Party!Cole's birthday is December 22nd - not the best time to be throwing a birthday party. I am always so swamped with getting Christmas together that birthday planning can't get the full attention it needs. Plus, Cole is the best at party planning. He always has a million ideas of what he'd like to do. So this year we decided to have his party in September and he was all for the early celebration.
Everything that happened at Cole's party was his idea. I asked him what he wanted to do and he came up with all the activities and decor. He wanted to have a Hawaiian Luau Beach party with Hawaiian-party music, tiki dudes, lei's for everyone, and beach balls everywhere. He wanted to play limbo, have a surf board for surfing and taking pictures on, and a volcano cake. Not too rough, I could handle this. We used the beach balls as invitations and wrote all the party info on them to invite each guest. We played a pass the coconut, limbo, and crab races, had craft activities, put hawaiian tattoos on our cheeks, and made candy kabobs. The cake even erupted with steaming dry ice (see past post for all the cake details). All his best friends were there and we had such a fabulous time. Plus Cole is always grateful and impressed with everything that's done. He's a wonderful son. We might continue the tradition of a September Birthday Celebration.

That looks like an awesome party. Good job Cole! I'm sure the mom did a lot of work too. Thinking about throwing parties for the kids totally stresses me out! You do an awesome job with your kids though, Julie. I'm glad you guys are having so much fun. Joel
